Construction is nearing completion at our latest (and largest) facility to date near Bonby in North Lincolnshire.  The plant sits in view of the impressive Humber bridge and will treat 75,000 tonnes of processed food waste each year.  Construction commenced late 2016 and has taken over a year owing to the complex nature of the gas connection, which incorporates a 6km pipeline to a 42 bar LTS gas main.

The impressive facility has been designed and built by Xergi (Danish AD technology) and CLS Engineering (local civil and ground works company), managed by our expert in-house construction team. The plant is expected to be seeded over the coming weeks, with commissioning due to begin shortly thereafter.  The plant will be fed, operated and digestate managed in partnership with Bioganix Ltd (previously known as Bio Waste Solutions Ltd) whom BioWatt have worked with for a number of years in the liquid organic waste industry. Bioganix will provide tailored feed to the plant to optimise biological performance and production of biomethane.  The plant is designed to produce >900m3 of biomethane an hour to the national grid and will provide all it’s own heat and power (self consumption) through combustion of gas in and onsite CHP unit.

The plant will be operated by BioWatt and we are currently recruiting an Operations Team for the site and there are a number of vacancies currently open to applicants >> click here for more.

“This milestone represents another achievement in a period of exciting growth for BioWatt.  Having recently completed our first acquisition and with several more in the pipeline, Bonby is our largest and most ambitious plant to date.  We have very much enjoyed working with our construction team, Xergi and CLS and are now looking forward to working with Bioganix to make a success of this excellent facility.”

“We also look forward to starting construction on two further projects in the spring, with the desired aim of bringing them into operation around the end of the year.”
