BioWatt has started construction on Brigg Lane Biogas AD Facility.  CLS Engineering began work on site in October, which is expected to continue for 10 months.  Brigg Lane Biogas is a 75,000 tonne a year pre-consumer food waste plant. The AD technology will be supplied by Xergi – the Danish AD process specialist. It will process pre-treated food and food production wastes from Bio Waste Ltd who are located on the adjacent site.  BioWatt developed the project in partnership with Bio Waste Ltd (Landowner/ Feed provider/ Digestate Management) and completed financing of the Facility in October.

The Facility, near Bonby, will be the largest plant in BioWatt’s portfolio and the first gas to grid project.  When fully operational, the plant will produce more than 900m3 of Biomethane an hour.  Gas produced by the Brigg Lane Biogas Facility will be directly injected into the gas network via a new 6km pipeline being constructed by Air Liquide – the world’s largest industrial gases company and specialist in such projects.

“Brigg Lane is a fantastic project that produces the world’s best and most versatile renewable [biogas] while managing a major problem here in the UK, namely food waste.”

“We’re looking forward to working with Bio Waste and our construction team to see this project take shape and become a jewel in the BioWatt portfolio of Biogas Projects.

– James Lloyd, BioWatt – Founder/ CEO

The construction of the plant is being overseen and managed by BioWatt Site Services construction team.  Utilising their highly experienced team and state of the art facility at Bonby, Bio Waste will supply all of the feedstock to the Plant and will also manage all of the digestate.  BioWatt FM will operate the plant on behalf of  Brigg Lane Biogas Ltd.
