BioWatt has started construction at our latest AD Facility (Marsh Farm Biogas) near Basildon. Marsh Farm Biogas will be a crop, residues and manure fed anaerobic digestion facility, developed by BioWatt in conjunction with Alex Sell (Farmer/ Landlord) and Laurence Gould Ltd (planning and land agent). The 500KW facility is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2017.
Financial close on the project was achieved in June and work is now well underway by Burden Bros, BioWatt’s selected civil works contractor. Work has started immediately, preparing the site and laying foundations for the feed clamps and two large tanks. The next big milestone for the project will be the installation and commissioning of the CHP unit in order to achieve the G59 date secured under the Feed in Tariff pre-accreditation.
BioWatt is working in close partnership with the Farmer/ Landowner – Alex Sell. Alex is supply all the 12,000 tonnes of materials needed to feed the plant each year from his existing arable and livestock farming operation. He will also be managing the high quality digestate fertiliser from the plant.
“These are proud moments for BioWatt. A spade in the ground at Marsh Farm is a significant milestone in our plan to become a major owner/ operator of AD Facilities here in the UK.”
“It has been a huge effort on the part of the BioWatt and Funder’s Teams to get this project across the line so quickly in order to give the project a chance of meeting the September deadline for G59 approval.”
