BioWatt has begun PROJECT & CONTRACT Management on a large Renewable Gas to Grid constructionProject.

The Project involves the construction of a 50,000 tonnes per annum anaerobic digestion plant, access, clamps, biogas upgrading, grid entry, gas pipeline, power connection, CHP, lagoons, and associated works. The Project was started in August 2023 and is expected to take 14 months, followed by commissioning and full operation.

Despite a horrendously wet winter, the project is barely 2 weeks behind programme and in line with the capital budget. Working closely with regulatory authorities and local groups, BioWatt has supported the client in both construction contracts management, health and safety auditing, design and interface management and community engagement (developing communication strategies and a project website). The delivery of the project is split into 4 key packages – (1) Civil & Ground Works & PC; (2) AD technology; (3) Upgrading and Grid Entry; and (4) Power & Distribution – and all the careful interface management that entails. Once completed, the plant will be handed over the BioWatt FM operations team under a long term operations and asset management Contract with the owner.

” We’ve worked closely with the construction management team, construction teams and consultants, ensuring a practical operations input is considered at each design and delivery stage. We’ll continue to support through snagging and commissioning to ensure we’re delivered an excellent plant for operation. We’re looking forward to getting the keys and getting to operate this top of the range plant later this year.”
